Background

The region we inhabit is loosely referred to as Midrealm. Major settlements of the region consist of its three population centers: Quarlimne, Allium Trico, and Kremill Port. Several towns and villages dot the realm in smaller populations.

Major landforms consist of the Hallow Morena forest and the Great Grand lake. Beyond Midrealm are tales—and the occasional traveler—from The Expanse and The Shattered Pearls.

Quarlimne is situated atop the desolated capitol of the world before myrk; it is a marriage of ruin and restoration. The withstanding architecture spreads over a marshland, and the city’s pulse is serviced by a network of tangled canals. The royal family has ruled in Quarlimne since the emergence of myrk had destabilized the prior civilization. Citizens from across Midrealm flock to this city for its rich culture and depth of knowledge.

Allium Trico

The Winding Ramps.

Allium Trico is abutted between the Great Grand and high-density myrk. These surrounding factors bar the city’s ability to sprawl outward, forcing its people and architecture to instead climb upward. In mirrored fashion, innovation climbs with the same reckless abandon. Magic is harnessed in exciting ways each and every day. Most iconic of all being the levitram: a type of transport equipped to handle both commuters and freight in a wide variety of tram styles.

Kremill Port

The City of Sails.

Kremill Port serves as the region’s preferred access to the Great Grand and the lands beyond its waters. It has earned its moniker through the sails in its docks and in the billowing, flag-like cloth above its open marketplace. Rare oddities are awaiting those willing to find them across the city’s innumerable vendors. But, beware, the line between mark and market is smudged in Kremill Port.

Minor Cities

Jemunate

Location: Southeast of Quarlimne

At the eastern reaches of Midrealm, just before thick barriers of myrk, is a place connected by tunnels. A vast web of stone joins its various buildings like a petrified root system. However, each of these tunnels are suspended in air, as if excavated from the earth itself.

Venega

Location: Northwest of Kremill Port, Southeast of Allium Trico

A quaint and quiet town praised for its idyllic slow pace. In a world troubled at every turn, many seek the peace afforded by Venega.

Corsair’s Traversal

Location: Southwest of Great Grand

Across the Great Grand, Corsair’s Traversal is the gateway to the untamed oceans of the southwest. Where Kremill is a city of an unspoken code, Corsair is entirely lawless.

Hallow Morena

Location: East of Kremill Port, west of Quarlimne

Despite not being an established settlement, the Hallow Morena forest offers a fairly mild density of myrk. Many have sought to break ground, but the spirits of Hallow Morena seem to deter every attempt. Travelers seeking respectful refuge near one of its many shallow basins are greeted with more amiable responses from the spirits.

Great Grand

Location: West of Kremill Port, North of Allium Trico

A massive bay provides for the aquatic needs of Midrealm. Its waters deter Myrk, but perhaps moreso for the monstrosities that lurk in its depths. Safely on its shores are Allium Trico and Kremill Port on its northeast and east respectively. Across is Corsair’s Traversal on the southwest where the Great Grand feeds into larger ocean.

The Shattered Pearls

Location: West of Great Grand and Midrealm

Past Corsair’s Traversal and beyond the ocean at its gates is a series of islands once said to be a centralized whole. Its people have persevered through cataclysm, and they have sought to unify their islands through ways of seafaring. Myrk does not touch their lands and waters, but

The Expanse

Location: East of Quarlimne and Midrealm

Sharing the landmass of Midrealm, The Expanse is separated by an indomitable barrier of myrk. However, once persevering through the impassable, The Expanse is supposedly a land unmarred by myrk. The sun shines unabated, and the horizon stretches in ways incomprehensible to most Midrealmers.
